Flat Alec...

Anyone out there who is familier with Flat Stanley will know what this is all about. My eight year old grandson's school sent me a cardboard cutout, shaped like a gingerbread man, with a picture of my grandson Alecs face on it. He had written on it and made it personal to him. It arrived with instructions on what to do. I have to take it to different places and take pictures of him at the places and within three weeks send him back to Kansas. This really is fun, so Shane and I took him flying in our Cherokee 180.
I placed him on the propeller for the start of his adventure, and then took pictures in-flight. There he is in the Cockpit, giving the pilot instructions, which the pilot followed to the letter. We flew close to Philadelphia and will be taking a road trip there later in the week. Flat Alec loves to fly, and we hope that the adventure will be fun to talk about in class......we had a great time being a part of this.

To fly or not to fly...how is the weather?

Please turn warm soon. It has been cold and snowy, and although the sun has been bright and the sky blue, it has been too cold to take our, mine and Shane's plane up. She is a warm weather bird and does not like to start when it is below 35 degrees, a little like me. This is a picture of the "Viking Witch" our Cherokee 180, she is such a beauty.

What a great way to go out for a meal, such as terrific crab cakes at the Kentmorr Restaurant on the Chesapeake, landing on a grass runway and eating at the Yacht Club. I will come back with another post soon with the names of some of the places that I have had the pleasure of landing at. Okay, perhaps I am not the pilot, Shane is, and a terrific one at that, but I am an avid right seater. Here is the Kentmorr Airpark link: http://www.airnav.com/airport/3W3
If you like to do this kind of thing, and have links to other fun places to fly to, I would love to hear from you. I have included a short video of a landing at Kentmorr on one of the trips for a crabcake supper. I hope you enjoy.

I want to go somewhere lovely...

It must be time to plan a vacation, or a short getaway. I am so excited, and had to ask if anyone out there had some ideas that I could use. Surfing the web is a great way to find terrific destinations, but one person can only find so much. With many surfing, or those sharing details of a terrific trip they have been on, the possibilities are endless. I have to tell you that when I surf for solo vacations, all that comes up for the most part are blinking....cruising for a man vacations, this is not what I am looking for. I do want to meet interesting people of course, people that won't stop talking to me if I show up to dinner with my underwear on the outside of my capris, just kidding, not quite there yet. I want to laugh a lot, eat good food and taste lovely wines, see beautiful places, and do all this in a very economical way, so share, please share... http://www.womenstravelclub.com/splittingup.html
This is one link I found that may be interesting to those of you who are also looking to plan a trip
